Fraud Prevention Reminder: Know How Choice Bank Will Contact You

Fraudsters often imitate trusted organizations. Knowing how Choice Bank communicates can help you recognize a scam and protect your information.

Within the banking industry, there has been an increase in scammers posing as bank employees through texts and phone calls. They may request personal or account information, create a sense of urgency, or manipulate caller ID to make the contact appear legitimate. Understanding how Choice Bank communicates can help you spot the warning signs and stop a scam before it goes any further.

How Choice Bank May Contact You

Choice Bank may contact you through secure digital messages, text alerts, phone calls, or mail.

  • Secure digital messages: Messages and alerts you can view securely after signing in through Choice Bank’s website or mobile app.
  • Text alerts: If you opted in to text alerts, you could receive messages about possible suspicious card activity. You can confirm these texts by calling the bank directly at (888) 894-1357. Choice Bank with never ask for your password or account information via text.
  • Phone calls: Automated or live calls related to your account. Remember that scammers can manipulate caller ID, so a familiar number is not proof that a call is legitimate. See below for how you can verify the caller is Choice Bank.
  • Mail: Official statements, notices, or other account communications sent to the mailing address we have on file.

If a message is unexpected or pressures you to act, pause and verify it independently.

What You Should Know

If you receive an unexpected text message, email, or phone call claiming to be from Choice Bank and asking for sensitive information, stop.  Choice Bank will never call you asking for this information.

As a reminder: Choice Bank will never contact you unexpectedly and ask you to provide sensitive account information, login credentials, passwords, PINs, or security codes.

Scammers may claim there is suspicious activity or another urgent account issue to pressure you into responding before you can verify the request.

What Choice Bank Will Never Ask You to Do:

  • Share passwords or PINs: We will never ask for your digital banking password or debit card PIN.
  • Read back a verification code: A one-time code is for you to use when signing in or completing an action you initiated. Do not share it with a caller or texter.
  • Move money to protect it: We will never call and direct you to transfer funds to a “safe,” temporary, or alternative account.

Be Cautious of Unexpected Requests

Whenever you receive an unsolicited communication that asks you to:

  • Share personal or account information
  • Provide online banking credentials
  • Confirm one-time security codes
  • Click a link to “verify” your account
  • Take immediate action to avoid a problem

Take a moment to pause and verify the request. Even if a phone number appears legitimate, caller ID information can be manipulated by scammers. A familiar phone number does not always mean the caller is who they claim to be.

How to Verify a Choice Bank Contact

  • Hang up and call back: End the call,  then dial the verified number on the back of your debit or credit card, on a recent statement, or in an official Choice Bank channel (888) 894-1357).
  • Check your account independently: Open the official app or type the known website address yourself rather than using contact information supplied in the message.
  • Do not click on unexpected links: Avoid links or attachments in urgent texts or emails about account problems. Contact Choice Bank directly to confirm the message.

What To Do If You’re Unsure

If you are unsure whether a message or call is legitimate, do not respond or share information. Contact Choice Bank directly using a verified phone number or reach out to your local banker.

  • Do not provide any information.
  • Do not click on links or follow instructions from the message.
  • End the conversation if you are on a call.
  • Contact Choice Bank directly using a verified phone number or by reaching out to your local banker.

It’s always better to take an extra minute to confirm than to risk sharing sensitive information with a fraudster.
