More About John
I’m originally from Hibbing and now reside in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, a small timber and tourism community on the far west end of Minnesota’s Iron Range. I am a Loss Control Consultant who will be trying, from day to day, to help shape the health and safety of forest products employers. Those employers are located mainly in Northern Minnesota, with an additional dozen or so companies based in and around the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The employers in the forest products group, which includes a majority of logging companies, are made up of such salt-of-the-earth, hard-working folks. It’s rewarding for me to try and help them comply with the many state and federal OSHA regulations. We work together to try and keep everyone involved free from injury.
I learned about safety from the nationally-recognized environmental health and safety master’s degree program at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, graduating in 1997. Before joining Choice, I spent 22 years at a group self-insured insurance company with a branch office in Bloomington, MN. There I was in charge of loss control for numerous clients in the manufacturing, construction, and healthcare industries.
I’m a “people” person in that I enjoy working one-on-one with clients with the hope of fostering long-lasting, positive relationships. Personally, I enjoy working on a local community-fund board in our hometown that supports area non-profit organizations. We have two growing kids who are involved in sports and activities that keep us running from event to event. Though not very well, when there is time, I play golf at a local course and donate plenty of lost golf balls to the members there. My wife and I celebrate our 22nd anniversary this year and I am blessed to be surrounded by terrific family and friends.
