Memories for Generations

For many, the lake is a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s a happy place. Ask any regular lake goer what they love most about retreating to their lake paradise and you’ll probably never hear the end of it! Some might say they look forward to trading stories over the bonfire, fishing out on the lake all day, or huddling around some board games. Others will mention taking the boat out for a spin and trying a new water sport or two or three! Regardless of what their favorite activity is, you’ll often hear more about the company they do it with—family.

“My family has had our cabin for 20 years and it’s without a doubt everyone’s favorite place to be. I love spending time with my parents, sisters, nieces, and nephews and creating memories with them. My nieces and nephews are getting to the age my sisters and I were when we first started going to the cabin and it’s amazing to see all the generations enjoy this shared space.”

“My favorite part of being at the lake is having my whole family there. I love it when my grandchildren get out the ‘Sno Cones & Dreams’ cart, bringing a smile to everyone’s face and making everyone feel special as they receive a treat!”

My son-in-law bid on this cart at a benefit auction, and it has become a cabin fixture!

Tim Karsky, Loon Lake, Ottertail County, MN

“My sister has a beautiful home on Loon Lake, and the first weekend in August, all my brothers and sisters (6 of us), spouses, kids, and grandkids spend the weekend together. We have enough food to feed a small town, and there are plenty of games to play. We fish, boat, swim and sit by the fire pit until early morning, and some of us even sleep in a hammock by the lake. I look forward to it all year and it gets my family together (without going to a funeral). I’m sure we’ll do this for years to come, and the lake is the best venue for it. It’s simply…Heaven!!”
